According to the latest data disclosed by OpenAI to Axios, its flagship product ChatGPT processes 2.5 billion prompts from users around the world every day, of which approximately 330 million come from users in the United States. This impressive figure fully demonstrates the popularity and user engagement of ChatGPT on a global scale.
Although the number of prompts for ChatGPT is huge, it still lags behind traditional search engine giant Google. Although Google's parent company Alphabet does not release daily search data, it recently revealed that Google handles 5 trillion search queries per year, averaging nearly 1.4 billion searches per day. Independent research institutions have also confirmed this trend. Neil Patel from NP Digital estimates that Google's daily search volume is 13.7 billion, while research from digital marketing companies SparkToro and Datos estimates it to be around 16.4 billion.
Nevertheless, ChatGPT's growth rate remains impressive. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman revealed in December last year that the number of queries sent to ChatGPT by users had already exceeded 1 billion per day. This means that within just about eight months, ChatGPT's search volume has more than doubled. This undoubtedly highlights the tremendous potential of generative AI in changing how users interact and access information.
