Meta has announced a major reorganization of its AI department, splitting it into two core teams: "AI Products" and "AGI Foundation," to address technical challenges and accelerate product development.In this organizational restructuring, the original AI department has been divided into two key teams: The "AI Products" group, led by Connor Hayes, focuses on the Meta AI assistant and its application features across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. The "AGI Foundation" team is co-led by Ahmad Al-Dahle and Amir Frenkel, concentrating on research and development of the Llama model, advanced reasoning capabilities, and exploration of multimodal models.Meta's AI research lab FAIR (Fundamental AI Research) will continue to operate, with some multimedia teams being integrated into the new structure.
